Brief Description

Eden Square Apartments is a high density mixed use development located on a prominent site overlooking Mullum Mullum Creek, close to the Ringwood Activity Centre, shopping precincts, parks and connected to local bicycle paths and parks.  The site features a number of excellent existing landscape elements including stands of mature trees along the creek corridor, which form a dense green canopy backdrop to the project, as well as a natural level change which informed a number of the key design concepts for the project.

Eden Square Apartments is a high density mixed use development located on a prominent site overlooking Mullum Mullum Creek, close to the Ringwood Activity Centre, shopping precincts, parks and connected to local bicycle paths and parks. The site features a number of excellent existing landscape elements including stands of mature trees along the creek corridor, which form a dense green canopy backdrop to the project, as well as a natural level change which informed a number of the key design concepts for the project.

The three residential towers, and associated leisure amenities and a cafe, are stitched together by a network of green open space and connecting paths. The first features a central boardwalk which links Nelson Street to the cafe and allows both residents and the public to access the existing tree-lined creek environment, previously locked away on private residential land. The boardwalk landscape is designed over the basement structure and is intended to re-create the experience of walking through a natural landscape, lined with native trees and understorey plants.

Many of the landscape spaces are designed over the basement carpark structure below, and achieving successful layering of plants and trees in these heavily engineered conditions was a key objective of the project and the Town Planning application.

Working closely with the Architects and Town Planning consultants, Papworth Davies also assisted with a lengthy engagement process with statutory bodies such as Melbourne Water and DELWP, as well as community consultation events to assist with the communication of the key landscape concepts for the project.
